The mission of the Governmental Relations and Legislative Office is to work on behalf of the residents of Sacramento County to promote, preserve, and improve Sacramento County's programs and services. This includes advocacy before the State and Federal Legislatures in support or opposition to proposed legislation which impacts Sacramento County, including the need for continuous and stable funding sources for the County. Positions on legislation and the state budget are taken based on review by the affected County department(s) as well as consistency with legislative policies and priorities the Board of Supervisors adopts annually. The Governmental Relations and Legislative Officer serves as liaison to legislators, monitors legislation and administrative regulations affecting the County, and seeks government funds for projects. The Governmental Relations and Legislative Officer also acts as the primary liaison between the County and other governmental agencies or public entities on issues of governmental relations.
